Located in Northern VA. 26,285 miles. Garage kept. Passed inspections in '09. Was running the last time I started it but has been sitting for a couple years (yes, I know I shouldn't have let it happen). Body is in really good condition given its age.

The good: Installed an in-line fuel filter when I bought it. Gas cap works and has key for it. Original seat. Also comes with original bike chain lock that came with it. Has clock on it, but not hooked up as it drained the battery when not on. Started and rode fine the last time I tried. All the lights worked as they should.

The bad: Will need a few things to get it roadworthy again - new battery, air in tires, breaks should be checked, carbs will need to be cleaned or possibly rebuilt since it has been sitting.

I know most of you have the technical know-how or are gaining it with the help of others on this site. This is a very nice bike given the condition it is in and the minor work needed to be roadworthy again will be worth your while.

Since I do not see any prices on many of the bikes and parts listed, I will refrain from posting an asking price and just ask for an offer.

It pains me to have to sell it but it is a waste of a good bike if I keep it sitting any longer. PM me if interested and thanks for taking a look.

    hey there.
I just moved to Silver Spring, MD after a couple years in Thailand. I've been a member of this site for many years. I've owned a bunch of XJ's including a couple of 81 XJ650 maxims.
The carb rebuilds on these aren't too bad. I've done some. Of course the biggest hassle is getting the damn things out from between the inlets and the airbox. Taking off the inlets is the best way but the chances of snapping an inlet bolt flush with the tract are pretty good so that's to be avoided.
Anyway, I'd like to come down and take a look at the bike. I literally got here a couple days ago and don't have any transport. is there some kind of public transit way of getting there?
    thanks,
    baz
