Started my bike last night and while waiting for her to warm up I tried the signals, they were very slow to come on and when they did blinked very slow. Went to my buddys house stopped for about 15 mins, went to start her and had to make a couple attempts, just bearly turning over. Once started headed back up town trying signal as i go and the same thing very slow. I put her on the highway and signals worked fine at higher speeds/rpms. Came home shut her down touched the starter button again and didn't want to start, battery almost dead.

Any ideas to where I can begin to look?

Also,This is a 84 xj1100 the BATT light is on the display, is this light connected to the charging system or just the battery fuild level?

First suspect would be the battery itself.

The "batt" light is not part of the charging system.

At that mileage, you probably need alternator brushes.

Got my charging problem fixed. I started swapping out my fuse panel trying to clean things up and I found a lot of bad connections and a big mess from the PO, But I am pretty sure my problem was coming from a burned out alternator plug. Fixed up all the connections and changed out the plug now charging perfect!

Thanks to all the members for all their awesome XJ wisdom!!!

That seems to be common, I had the same issue on mine.
You also might want to pull the cover off and clean/blow out the brushes. They build up carbon and get grimy sometimes. It's a once a year in the Spring type of thing. I also clean the surface the brushes rub against.

Forgot to add I have the DEKA ETX-18L AGM battery that you see in my sig. I got it here: http://www.etx18l.com/ This battery is perfect for the XJ1100 and there's no more acid or keeping up levels for you to deal with.
