Lets see some homemade fork damper rod holders. I need to make one or buy one. Does anybody know the exact diameter of the yamaha tool, i read somewhere 17mm, but im not sure if this is correct

Just use a small sparkplug turned upside down...don't quote me, but I think it's 19mm (the hex) ...then all you need are a couple long extensions....I want to say it's about 25" or so....BigFitz has a pretty good write up.

I used a cut off piece of 3/4" allen wrench in a 3/4" six point socket with a piece of shim stock wedged between to keep it together. I stuck that on a 2' extension.

I actually made this for work. Impact grade hex drivers are expensive, so I cut up a decent quality set of jumbo hex keys and stuck them in a decent set of impact sockets.

If I didn't already have a custom tool that would do the job, I would have used the sparkplug socket.

Just fyi, 3/4" and 19mm are the same.

Heres mine. Just use a 19mm socket with a looooonnnggg extension. Another way I have done it is to use an impact wrench on a allen head socket on the bottom screw. Zips right off.
