After putting the old girl on the road for the first real road test in 6 years, I think the steering has a weird feel to it. It feels sort of heavy to turn at street speeds, but feels very tippy when transferring weight left to right. Possibly the skinny tires take some getting used to. It does not feel stiff when on the center stand and moving bars at rest. I did swap out the steering head bearings, should I recheck the torque values?

Check the air in the tires?

Make sure the swingarm bearings are OK: grab the rear wheel when the bike is on the centerstand and jam it left-right and see if there is any play.

You put nice new springs in the front end, blocked the antidive, etc., are you still running on the probably useless original rear shocks?

Thanks for the reply. I put 36 pounds in the tires, I will check swing arm today. The rear shocks are new but Cheap EBay ones. I may crank up spring tension for my 250 pound carcass.

Try dropping the front to 4 pounds or so less than the rear; if you're running 36 rear run 32 front.

Assuming you have decent, modern tires I'd run at least 38 in the rear, 32 ~ 34 front.
