I wanted to make this post earlier, but a hail damaged roof that needed replacing got in my way..

latest order just came in, a big one! valve shims, rebuilding carb rack, rebuilding both brakes, new lines, pads, disc. also got tuning kit w mercury sticks and colortune plug and extras!

Installing shims today! Look what this PO did instead of replacing the valve cover pressure washers... note orange goo, AND the ridiculous grime! for shame!

Had the same reddish-orange goo on my valve cover too. Fortunately, it peeled off very easily.

Depending on the bike, you might want to consider painting the hub of that EBC disc:

Shims are in, but looks like one of my readings was wrong and i needed a 255 instead of the 260 i ordred. :(

Either way shes a little less soggy taking off, which is good. Still need to vacuum sync, but will prly wait now til I get the right shims.

Bigfitz, its an 82 xj650 maxim.. whats your rationale for painting the disc hub? Just for stock looks? or something to do with corrosion? Your parts look nice and new btw :)

The latter would concern me, but as for the prior my xj is already way not stock, so meh. :)

Painting the hub? Just for appearance is all; it's "raw" and there's really no way to polish it so I painted mine.

heheh, maybe after im done with it :)

actually a fair ways off from needing the color tune at this point, just got it now so i have it handy after im done rebuilding the carbs this winter.

lots more on the list too.. need to rebuild the forks soon too since the left seal is leaving lots of oil on the stanchion..

Time to go dig through the Len's catalog again!

Dangit.... no idea he had those items as well, I just placed an order for the Carbtune\Colortune combo direct (coming from the Uk!) and I'm about to place an order with Len for brake lines.

    I'll know better next time.

Best practice: if you need anything at all for your XJ, ask Len. Don't rely on the catalog; just pop him a quick PM or an email.

If it's a maintenance/tuning item, he will have it in stock. Just ask.

The catalog has a TON of useful notes on pretty much every part... before i ordered anything i read everything, twice. made a list of what i thought i needed then messaged Len. The catalog has a lot of really good info, even if it is slightly difficult to navigate..

Does Len have a brick and mortar shop? Why no fancy shopping cart/webpage?

tempted to import all the catalog text to an editor and do up some anchor links or something, to make getting from the TOC to individual sections easier.. hmmmm....

Many of us have offered.... and he won't take us up on it....

Ask Len for everything too... even used parts. However, he only deals with XJ's....
