The Fiance has an suv i can drive in inclement weather. Ive got a 94 accord that with over 240k is... past her prime. Any one on here have a z06 c5, base c5, or c6 base. Curious to get some ownerfeedback. Figured id check around "home" before joining a vette forum. Looking for something fun/sporty may be riding less when we get married. (Tips on that thought are welcome as well)

My brother had a 78 25th Anniversary Vette, had it about 2 years. It spent half the time in the shop from mechanical problems or someone banging their car door into it and cracking the fiberglass. Insurance is very high because of how people usually drive them and because they are a high risk target for theft.
    They do look nice though.

    Bought a '95 Camaro 'vert v6 with 175 HP for only $1,600 over a year ago and it's been a blast. 14,000 trouble-free miles, 25 MPG, and anti-lock, roller-coaster brakes !!

It's not a corvette, but it's like 80% there. Leave it in the rain, haul plants in the trunk, ETC.

If you've never had any experience with any type of sports car, I would go with a Miata. If not, I think the C6 Base is plenty of car for you... I would go with the c6 base just because of the prices...and how much significantly better it looks. The C5 interior is old and you'll feel it when you're driving it.
370z Is nice too, but it's a boy racer type car... C6 will destroy it lol.

Anything that keeps any body from riding is not worth doing.

I've driven a lot of cars working at the dealers over the years.

I'm a ford guy but i can say without a doubt the corvette will always be the scariest car to drive. By that i mean for example, a c6 z06 is a car that you don't drive, you plant your foot and you go where ever it desires.

The new 5.0 DOHC mustang is the 2nd car to really ever scare the hell out of me. I can't remember the HP figures but its around 400 something.

But here's my thing with mustangs, and i love them don't get me wrong. A mustang whether it is a shelby gt500, gt350, GT, base...sorta, bullitt.... they all look relatively the same except for a saleen which isn't entirely a ford.

A corvette will always turn heads. There are only two types of corvette people. Those who abuse them and enjoy the bajesus out of them, and those who drive it 2K a year and spend half the life in the shop fixing an auxilly cooling fan, or a convertable top.....to sit in the garage again.

There are plenty of other cheaper cars to have that are also fun. 350z, 370 as mentioned, mini cooper s, toyota mr2.

Right now i'm driving a civic del sol. Its got the targa top, its lowered enough that i can corner at 50, it gets 36mpg whether i make it scream or not. Granted it is a Honda so you won't pinch off more than 200hp without emptying a few pay checks but replacement parts will also be dirt cheap.

If you have a lot or a decent amount of income, corvette. If on the lower side, my recommendation is to not live outside your means.
