Anyone have a road trip planned this year on their bike? I've traveled the east coast many times and finally going to do a west trip. My friend called and said we are not dead yet, What about a long ride?

He lives in Fl. and will ride his goldwing to my place in the Smokey Mtns.Tn. after that it will be all back roads to the Ozarks in Arkansas, to Durango Co. and maybe the Canyon Lands Utah. We have no time limit and will come home when we feel like it!

Anyone ride these areas? It would be interesting to hear from riders who have been there.

For an Easterner the NM/Utah/WY/AZ neighborhood is amazing. I have done a couple of 3 month contract jobs in Taos, NM and wandered a lot while there. 6500 miles in 3 months the last time and I trucked the bike out there. So much scenery your eyes will get tired! Yep, been to Canyonlands and it was amazing. It would be way easy to spend several days there and Arches parks. Take extra memory cards for your camera. PM me your email and I will send a couple of sample pics. Oh, and get gas every time you get the chance as it a LOT further between opportunities there and in the east.... A LOT!

If all goes well I'll be doing a loop through KS, CO, NV, CA, OR, WA, ID, UT, WY, NB, and back "home" to KS. If all does not go well I'll just do a straight(isn) run to Longview WA, and back.

I rode in NW Arkansas this past summer. It was beautiful. Don't skip a cave tour while you're in the area. The city of Sulphur Springs is worth a visit, even just to see how everything was built in a very steep, and narrow, valley.

While it's not a cross country trip like you have planned, I will be riding 6 hours out to a buddy of mine in the Cleveland area in July. We'll then be riding down to Lexington OH for the AMA sportbike/superbike races at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. We went there last year for the Indy car races and had a blast so I'm really looking forward to the bike races this year.
Sounds like you have an amazing adventure ahead of you. If I could take enough time off work, I would love to do something like that. Be sure to post pics of your journey.
    Ride safe!!

Make sure all of your maintenance is up-to-date, valves in spec, carbs sync'ed, etc., so you don't kill your motor in the process. Also be sure all of the cycle maintenance is caught up too; brakes, suspension, etc.

As long as your bike is fully recommissioned and operating correctly, go for it. The last thing you want to have to do is deal with equipment problems along the way.
