So a while back in April I snagged an old 550 seca ad off ebay for 3.50 shipped to my door, and as it was about the time when I started the 550 project so i figured it would provide some motivation/inspiration.

Well I wanted to do it up right and frame it, but due to being sort of an odd size, I couldn't easily find a frame to fit it without looking silly.

I moved twice since i bought the ad, but tonight I finally came across it and found it still in the envelope and cardboard it came in, and with the newfound excitement of finding it again, I went to the store to find a frame and the closest i could find was a 16x20. I needed it to be 16 3/4 x 11"

Since I'm still young and forsee a few more moves before I "settle down" I try to avoid glass and do like the simplicity of the cheap poster frames.

So here was the progression as who doesn't love some picture action -

Frame, was less than 5$, not bad.

    Yep, thats too big:

Made some scribbles to figure out what I needed to do:

    Cut the borders:

My cat Jim was overseeing the project of course as always:

Cut the cardboard on both sides so that the hanger would still remain centered when hung on the wall:

Cut the plastic, just like glass, just score and snap:

I always flip the included paper to use as a backing -

Lined up the two pieces and held them in place by three very small pieces of tape on the backside:

    Thats Jim's "I approve" face:

    And the money shot!

So that's it, happy new year to all!

Nice. Most people would have just matted the ad.

    That's awesome!!!
I scored a midnight maxim magazine ad a few months ago that I plan on framing one of these days. Maybe this will inspire me to get on the ball with it.
    Nice job!!
