Coming home the other night a rabbit ran out in front of me at a right angle, I was doing 115 Km/hr and just about to set up for a high speed corner. So after 130,000 Km and 23 years my fairing is broken!

Bike stayed stable and I did not feel a bump, just about got to the breaks but not quite ;) . Even got a small tuft of rabbit hair as a souvenir!

I've seen the aftermath of rabbit encounters, not pretty. Those wascaly varmits can actually do some damage. I hope you cut his little hide up for a souvenir, you earned it!

While cruising down your way last week I was looking at some of the road kill and wondering what the effects would be if their fate was death by motorcycle ;)

Looks like a fairly simple repair... Thankfully :)

Actually, odd numbers of rabbits feet are lucky. Pairs cancel each other out. Therefore all regular rabbits are unlucky. That's why they all get hit by cars and eaten by dogs. If they only have 3 feet, they live forever.

I ran over a rabbit the other day ago. It was already dead. My bike smelled that night.

I'm very aware of road kill and things on the road, common down here. The long sweeping passing lanes just south of Timaru had a dead opossum just at the sothern end right where you would hit it on a bike too. Reapir will take a bit of plastic wielding to fix, not too bad!

    :) lucky for me though!
Maybe it was karma for the 100's of rabbits I've shot over the years!
When they are alreadyd dead they make a easyer target eh? ;)
    Beware of road kill!

Should have skined it and wrap the furr over you're helmet for luck. Then fed the dog. :)

Statistics state that roughly 40% of the motorcycle deaths reported each year are due to either road conditions (potholes) or late night animal incounters. Imagin hiting a dear late at night in the middle of nowhere.

It happens. Found a deer in San Diego one night back in 89, scared the living C**P out of me. Missed hitting him by just a few inches. Middle of the night of course. Out by the graveyard. Funny but you just don't think of deer and San Diego.

Yeah, I've had a close call with a whole family of deer. Chargin' along on Highway 66 (Nice and Curvy throughout! ) and I come around the corner to the road being completely occupied by deer! Man I wish I was wearing depends that day, much less of a mess!!

Riding to work the other day and a small bird hit my helmet. Scared the cr-p out of me. Just couldnt move my head fast enough. Installed the new windshield later that day. Made a nice mark on my helmet.

I have a friend who hit a deer with his HD. Totalled it, but he was just bruised and rashed. Very lucky (and smart for wearing a helmet).

I hit a huge raccoon on my little 350. dang thing scared the crap out of me. It was 3am and I only had the time to lift my ass of my seat. Luckily it didnt puch a spoke through my tube. It only scared me.

Glad to hear you were just scared and have cracked plastic.

Samsr - A bird? That would be quite surprising. At least you were wearing a helmet. No beaks imbedded in your head.

Here in the mountains the thing to watch out for are herds of goats. You swing round a bend and there they are dozens of them blocking the road and an old boy with a half dozen dogs sat on a rock watching them.

englishsandwich, You are not kidding. Like hitting a brick. Even a small bird will do strange things at a decent rate of speed. Shakes you up a bit. Allways wear a helmet!!
