Hi all seeking some advice. I went to go for a ride today( nice and sunny no rain) and bike started first time as it mostly does, warmed her up and went to put her in gear and she stopped. Never done this before so I checked clutch adjustment all seemed ok with out bike running I can put her in gear pull in the clutch and go forward/ backwards etc really would like to do this under power though pushing is a !@#$@$^%#. :( .
Seems to me that it might be electrical .can anyone offer any advice. Strange that one day running fine the next not, i guess thats what you expect from a bike of this vintage.

Check the side stand switch and the switch in the clutch lever housing.

They can be shorted to bypass them.

Doesn't hurt to drop and raise the side stand a couple of times a bit more forecefully than you're used to. That may clear you up for a short ride today but the bigger issue would still need to be addressed.

just had a look and there is no side stand switch and the clutch lever switch at the lever end has the wires out of the connector. it seems like they have been out for some time. Can anyone shed some light on this, eg would this only just show itself now or is there more to it than that. is there anything else that I should be looking for.
