So my xj650 had a ton of splices, butt connectors, and soldering throughout the wires in the headlight assembly. I replaced the LH and RH controls as to make those back to stock. but still seem to have alot of things either wired incorrectly or not wired at all. also the gauge cluster i found isnt from a '80 xj, but rather a 78 gs 460. so in all does anyone have good resources for wiring diagrams that are understandable, along with that any real pictures of wiring that i could see how the gauges are wired, the head light and really tho whole wiring harness in general so i can get a better look at it all? if so please PM me, your help would be much appreciated as it is getting close to riding time here.

Or if anyone has some know how or help as far as how is everything supposed to be connected, and how exactly the Headlight wires in is confusing to me too.

Step one. Get a shop manual (seriously, it's more valuable than 1000 internet posts)

Step two. Search E-Bay for a used, unhacked, wiring harness. Working through someone else's mess is not worth your time.

Step three. Take a weekend to look through this section of the forum: http://xjbikes.com/Forums/viewforum/f=21.html
Although it does not directly address your question, that section is often overlooked, and will contain more answers than you seek
