Painting the engine fins, and repairing them

My air fins are beat up, and need re painted. I couldnt find a thread that answered the question of how bad can air fins be before they are unable to be replaced? and what type of shop would one take the bike to? Also how does one repaint the block?
If there is a thread about this, if you could link to it and i will delete this one to not clutter up the forum! Thanks!

I don't really understand the question. The fins are a cast part of both the head and block. You'd have to replace the head, block or both to replace damaged or broken fins, no? Shops that would do it...depends on your local. I suggest researching shops that advertise as classic and vintage m/c shops. You'd be lucky to find a local shop with a mechanic willing to work on it. For as much as we like our bikes they are not profitable. Local shops are in business mainly to make a profit by selling and wrenching on bikes. Then there's the DIY advice. All the information is in your manual(s) and here. If possible post a few pictures so we can see what you are talking about. Hope this helps.
