If you read it carefully, some of what they're talking about already exists for our Yamahas: "models included in the programme will get every single part that is still available from the factory listed online."

We have that. Of course, EVERY single part isn't still available from the factory; but the online Yamaha dealer-network fiche lists those that are: http://www.yamahapartshouse.com/oempart ... ycle/parts (and even those that aren't) and goes back to 1963.

"Every part that is still available" isn't saying much; what they didn't say was "we'll make every single part available again." Now that would be newsworthy.

The rest of it, like the literature and stuff is cool; but honestly I think they're trying to wring some marketing mileage out of something that pretty much already exists.

Fitz gets it, I remember thinking the same thing when I read this press release the first time. I think a lot of people are going to be disappointed when they realize that every single part for their Gamma or GS1000 isn't going to go back into production.
Kawasaki has a really good parts fiche, as well. In fact, I started out restoring Kawasakis , then to Yamaha two strokes and got used to having online parts diagrams easily available, and was a little shocked to find Suzuki doesn't have anything like that when I started working on my first Suzi.

Yeah I was wondering when somebody would notice that. Cue the usual suspects preaching the old Yamaha fire and brimstone :) :)
