OK so after this long cold winter I go out to check the bike and start getting ready for spring. I go to start it and I get one or two attempts at starting and then the low battery clicking. The bike has a new battery bought the beginning of last season and has been on a battery tender Jr all winter. Anyone know what could have gone wrong? Thanks in advance.

My battery can die pretty quick I'd its cold just from pushing the cold oil. I would check your battery under load though just to be sure its not a bad battery.

Check your voltage at the terminals with the bike off, then on, then while cranking it. See how large the drop is at each stage.

You should have 13 plus off 12 with just the draw from the headlight and I think not quite sure but over 10 while cranking for the first couple tries on a good fully charged battery. Pollock or Rickomatic would no for sure and I am almost positive that you would find the correct definite numbers really quick with a forum search.

My battery is doing the same thing. About a year and half old. It was on a tender for over a month. Put in on the bike and just clicks. I took it off the bike and charged in on a 2 amp trickle charge for 6 hours. Back on the bike and fired right up. Let the bike sit for several hours and just clicked again. This time I took it back off, charged on 2 amp for 6 hours, let the battery sit for a couple days. Back on again and just clicks. The battery is not holding a charge. I am really hating stuff made in China!

Its so frustrating. Batteries aren't cheap. I shouldn't have to buy a new one every year.

Some last years some one season. The kind of tender you have as well as what kind of battery, and of course random chance influence the life.

If you have a wet-cell battery that is on a tender (or a ridden bike) you will need to check the water level every month; even in the winter.

    good stuff there.
start like K-moe says and check the water.
to check the charge, the best way is one of those eye dropper things with the little balls in it.
to check the capacity or how much work it can do, well you did that and it failed.
try this, put your tender on it and read the voltage after a few hours, should be around 14.4 volts, with the tender still on it. it needs that much to get a full charge.
your battery is sick but you might still get some use out of it, put it on a car charger but only for a hour or 2, watch it for spitting out acid and getting hot, if it gets hot stop. if it spits acid, catch it in something and put it back in. unhook it.
let it set over night and try it in the bike again. sometimes it works sometimes not
