Hi, been looking at site for some time now and found it very interesting and informative, so I thought I would say HALLO.
I live in Worcestershire in the UK, and own a Maxim X 700cc.
this is a bike I have always wanted and as I have now retired I have treated myself.
it is a 1985 with 36000mls on clock in a fair condition and although I have only done about 150 mls on it, I am very pleased with it.
I have owned XJ750 Seca 1982, XJ750 Midnight Maxim 1983 amongst others, but although they were good bikes, I really wanted the Maxim X.
    Other bikes, Honda 500 Deuville, Honda CB500S, XJ900 Diversion, Honda CB750 1974, Yamha R1, RGV250, Ariel Arrow 250.

    Best Regards, Mike.

Welcome Mike and the X is too much for an old retired bugger best go and get an Ariel 3 wheeler! (just kiddin)
There are a lot of knowledgeable people on here regarding the X's but try and get a maintenance/service manual first off. Also do you know the bike history or is it in good nick on the word of the previous owner? Check the usual maintenance stuff like brakes (other post) tyres, hoses (fuel, vacuum and coolant) especially the radiator. I found with mine that it has a tendency to clog up in the lower 1/3 with accumulated crud. These bikes go further between valve checks but at 36000 miles it should be looked at.
I'm sure others will put their tuppence in.

    Cheers, Graham

Welcome, this a great site for an XJ owner. I have had my 700x for two years and love it. Ride safe.
