Anyone got a spare 31A front Fender for an XJ900 (XJ750E-II)? My dog has stopped chewing my brake lines and has moved onto my front fender. She is currently locked in her kennel awaiting another tour around the front of my bike to survey the damage (this will be an every day occurrence for the next week  until she gets that it is not a play thing ). There is one on eBay in Italy but probably cheaper to repair rather than import, unless there is one closer to NZ.

Glad to hear that you are being responsible and taking the time to train your dog instead of just blaming it. :D

What kind and how big is your dog that an XJ900 is a chew toy? 8O

Hi all, first time posting on forum, looking for help.

    I have a 1981 XJ550 (4V8?) UK spec similar to SECA

I am wondering how to source butterfly shaft seals and screws in the UK

Would the yamaha dealers still stock these? tried internet and unnless i am using the wrong triger words nothing is coming back. Tons of float bowl overhaul kits but no shaft seals.

Looking on various threads on forum i believe these are not round section O rings but specific lip type seals.

    Oh Carbs are Mikuni BS28

Thanks Bushy, I will have a go at fixing it first and I appreciate your offer. Will PM you if it doesn't work.

dmlyster, you are on the money with a Lab, but she also has a bit of Staffy in her but at 18 months old she should be just about over chewing stuff that doesn't belong to her. You would think that after the 3rd time she chewed my brake lines she would have learnt!!

A friend of mine had a large lab that ate the plastic grille out of the front of his Chevy pickup. We always attributed it to the grille being infused with road salt from the Michigan winters.

You mean YOU would have learned! :D
We had a lab that ate a $100 bill, checked her poop for days and never found it. She also ate a pound of cheddar cheese off my brother's kitchen counter . . . Never vehicle parts.

Had a few dogs like that! not much help now but a generous rub of dencorub on the bits they like seems to put them off.

One of the 900rk's that I have just arrived (been working it's way across country from Arkansas), and both rear turnsignals have plenty of dog teeth marks on them......first time I'VE ever had that happen. They'll get replaced.

I had to Google "Dencorub" as it's not a product that's sold here, although we do have similar things.

    That should work.

Not really, but found it because she ate the wrapper also!

Bitter Apple is a good chew deterrent, I suppose dencorub/ Ben gay is probably even more effective! :x

My Walker loved the bitter apple paste we put on our former coffee table. The only way that I've ever been successful in changing that behavior in a dog is to be viligant about correcting the behavior and offering an alternative immediately following the correction. Stock up on beef bones and pay close attention to your pup.

I have a 40 pound mutt, and she ate half a motorcycle seat, part of a saddle bag, destroyed a couple of gloves, ravaged a small sissy bar bag, tore up a do-rag, and finally ate the padding out of a really nice helmet. She now lives outside the garage! --And nothing is safe in the back yard.

With labs, they chew till they're two, and shed till they're dead.

    or so I've heard.

The look I gave her and the personal tour to the front of my bike when I found the damage will probably be enough to stop her chewing or shedding ever!! But watch this space; time will tell. Guard/fender back on the road to recovery.

You could also park the bike in the kennel and lock the dog outside!
