When I switch on the right turn signal, the light does not turn on at all.
When I switch on the left turn signal, the light blinks perfectly.

However, if I switch on the left turn signal and let it blink once, then switch immediately to the right turn signal, the right turn signal blinks perfectly.

It is like you need to "warm up" the right by running the left first.

Does this behavior suggest a diagnosis/fix to you? Thanks!

You need to pull the switch pod apart and clean it; and fix any loose connections you might find.

If it continues to act up, you may want to pop the cover off the flasher relay and blow it out, and check the contacts for carbon build-up.

You really aren't supposed to do that. When you turn the signal selector to the left, and then release it, the selector lever should return to center. If you want to cancel the signaling (for whatever reason), you are supposed to press inward on the knob, which releases the internal slider component and allows it to go back to center (off)......only then should you push the knob to the right (to select the right signal).

If you take that control switch apart you'll see why that needs to happen......it sounds like you have either dirty/bent contacts (the bent contacts occur when you don't perform the "push-in" procedure to release the internal slider switch), or the slider needs lubricating, or there are loose/broken wires on the contact plate that the slider activates.

chacal probably has the switch you need. I would just replace it and be done with it. I had to replace all of my switches. It is a lot easier to do that then trying to fix them...

Chacal, you nailed it. When I disassembled the switch, one of the soldered wired popped off.... probably a cold solder.

Works great now, even at idle!!!

    Thanks everyone!
