    Fellow xj enthusiasts,

I am currently working on a 1983 XJ750 E-II. This was a non-runner bike when I got her. Now I got her running but not really fine tuned. Decided to checked the valve clearances and got 4 not in spec so with the help of the tool and some spare shims from my 650, I got the valves into spec. Looking forward to fine tune the bike in the next few days.

My main concern is for the parts. I heard that this bike got a XJ900 seca frame fitted with 750 engine. I just wanted to clarify if its just the frame that is from the 900 or does it include the forks, wheels, gauges and other parts except the engine and electrical. Im pretty sure its a E-II model. Frame and engine number starts with 29R.

Can someone confirm with me about the parts?

I am from the Philippines btw thus having some problems in some parts availability. Thanks!

To put it very simply. What you have is an XJ900 that has the 750 seca engine bolted into it.

Unless you are in the UK, or OZ this is a very common problem due to the import restrictions at the time. The UK, and OZ continued to receive the 900 under the 900F/900N model through the 94 model. The only difference being the change to the frame mounted full fairing.

If you need common service parts (gaskets, etc...). Contact XJ4ever through the banner link at the top of the page.

Thanks for the clarification hogfiddles, MiGhost and z32800! So basically, most of the parts except the engine and the engine electrical parts like ignition coil and tci will be from a 1983 xj800 seca, is that right?

Hoping to get this bike in good running condition in the future!

Got your PM and replied to it.

Thanks guy. I'll try to share pics as soon as possible. Too bad the bikes rear end and seat is not stock anymore.

Should I try to get it back to stock form or is it okay to modify the headlight and rear end?

Hi, any chance your parts manual might identify the electrical gizmo attached to the headstock of my 29R. It consists of a plastic quadrant rail fitted around then headstock just above the bottom yoke. In it runs a metal tab that when you turn the bars , the tab runs in the rail (maybe electrical pick up points ?). There are a number of cables attached to the plastic quadrant that terminate in a connector block that ultimately lead up into the instrument binnacle.
