    Just buy two different brands.

I have Bridgestone on the front and a Pirelli on the back.

Thanks. I really didn't want it to come down to that but it looks like I have no choice.

I've read a few different things that say different sizes but they size I've seen the most was 3.25-19 Front and 110/90-18 Rear

What size is on you bike now?
The parts book calls for a 130/90-19 rear and a 325h19 front and I think that is the same as a 100/90-19.

Should not be hard to find two tires of the same brand. Not to say you cant do it but I like my tires to match.

Im not sure of the actual size that is on there now but I guess it would be to hard to find out. Which parts book did you get that info from? And since it was a restoration project I really want the tires to match

Any online Yamaha parts lookup website has the same things. I like BikeBandit.com their layout is easy to navigate.

    From memory,
    90/90H19 - 3.25H19 (or 3.60)
    100/90H19 - 3.50H19 (or 4.10)
    110/90H19 - 4.00H19

Those are the original tire sizes for the 550 Seca. The factory book has a typo listing the rear wheel size on the Maxim incorrectly, and it's been carried over a lot.

Your Maxim has a 16" rear wheel, not an 18.

On the front, you can run a 90/90-19 or a 100/90-19; the 90 is closer to the original size, the 100 fills the fender better and gives you a tad more meat on the road.

On the rear, you want a 130/90-16.

    This is a good recommendation:

I know this is an old topic, but Fitz, won't using a 100/90 instead of a 90/90 tire give false speedo readings? Or is it negligible?

No, circumference will be the same, just wider contact patch.

If you find a Yamaha mechanical speedometer that's accurate enough to tell the difference be sure to share.

The circumference won't be the same, the 100/90 will be slighly bigger But like Fitz said

    Just to explain tire size:

    mm/X%-rim diameter

    100/90-19
100mm wide, 90mm (90% of width) tall, 19 inch rim

    90/90-19
90mm wide, 81mm (90% of width) tall, 19 inch rim

It will have a 9mm larger diameter. Should equal out to around .75mph slower. About half the width of the needle.

    Like I said;
And I think you meant 19-inch rim, Kaz.

On my 82 XJ550 I run Metzeler ME 880 Marathons on both front and rear. If your wheels are stock then you want 100/90-19 for the front and 130/90-16 on the rear. These are great tires. Love them! These are easy to find also...
