speedometer ratio..?

    maybe someone know ratio of xj650 speedo...
    trying to swap all 'clocks' to something much smaller...

    I just swapped out mine on my XJ650 1981.

    Speedo 60:2240
    tach is 5:1.

    Not sure if this varies by year though.

    Couple of extra things you need to think about...

    1) The stock display unit has a built in diode that allows the turn light to come on without completing the circuit for the other side of the bike... this unit does not and has only one wire to the turn light.. you need to install a diode (radioshack) on the green and chocolate wires coming from the bike's harness before they go to the turn wire on the bike.

    2) while you're there - you'll find that the hi-beem headlight display light is extremely bright - it's looks like it's on when it's not and when it is it attracts moths.... while you're at radioshack get a resistor to dim it down a bit and install that inline...
