gas issue???

    So i got a 81, She starts up ok and idles ok but when i take off it boggs out and then it will take off? or if i dump the throttle it boggs out. It sat in a garage for about five years then i had cleaned tank, put new petcock, plugs,wires,cleaned the carbs three times now cause i thought that was the issue. anybody have any ideas?

    Did you check valve clearances? Wet set the floats? Check for vacuum leaks at the carb boots and throttle shaft seals?

    Valves, then floats, then sync carbs and color tune.... In this order.

    let's say all that stuff has been taken care of. try turning the mixture screws out 1/8 to 1/4 turn. see what that does

    Make sure your choke cable is pulling on the chokes ever so slightly at the carb connection. I did this once and it acted like what you describe.

    Never mentioned the air filter... sounds like it's starving for something at launch, a dirty filter might cause some problems too.
