I have a mountain bike that needed the forks rebuilt. The fork company charged $45 for the rubber seals.
I went to the hardware store and bought the same thing for 10 cents.
I'm in going on my 3rd year with no problems.

On my XJ750, I have a leaky cock. Not sure what all is needed in a rebuild, but is there an alternative to the over priced fuel cock rebuild kits?

Anybody gone into a hardware store and been able to find parts that will work?

    Thank you,
    Chris.

Even if you found the right size o-rings, they wouldn't be fuel resistant.

Interesting....a mountain bike as in bicycle as opposed to a XJ motorcycle...getting rubber oil seals in a hardware store ( maybe the dust covers I can understand but the oil seals....hmmm.....odd.....not sure how they will hold up....

petcock parts.....specialty items.....good luck finding them anywhere but from chacal or aftermarket vendors

You can get fuel resistant o-rings in auto parts stores.

Thing is, the diaphragm is the really troublesome part, and it's a complex rubber and metal combination that you will not find in anything else besides a motorcycle petcock.

I'll just keep getting parts at xj4ever.... That way I'll KNOW they are fine. I don't mind paying the "peace-of-mind" tax.

Thank you for the pictures. Looks like it's a lot more to it then I thought.

In the pictures, I see the triangle filters. The ones in my area all say for single cylinder.

Is it OK to put a single cylinder on a four cylinder? Seems if it's OK, they would say it was.

    Chris.
