    Hi guys

I thought a quick intro would be in place, since you'll probably see me on the forums asking a lot of questions soon :)

I'm from Denmark - The capital of Sweden, you know, and electro mech by education.
Recently, I thought I made a super purchase, as I found out that a friend's dad had and old XJ550 sitting in his garage where it's been for a long while.
Since I had no bike, I bought his because, hey, it just needs a new battery and new tires and off we go, right?
    Not really :D
Getting the bike to run was easy, but getting the motor to run as it should with enough fuel and air... That's a whole different matter - But I love the bike itself.
Over the next two weeks to a month (no more, I hope) I'll be working on carbs, airbox, etc. to make it run well.
I hope I can draw a little on you guys' experience for that.
In the mean time, thanks for having me on your awesome forum.

Hi DK, welcome to the camp.

Lots of good people here should be able to guide you through any task required to give you the best bike on the block. . . .

    StartHERE.
Safety is no joke, and stopping when you want to is critical.

    Thanks, Stump.
Actually, I read that post two weeks ago when my bike had new tires fitted, and asked by mechanic to check the brakes. He said they were just fine, but you had me going a little paranoid at first :)
Everything safety related on the bike is good to go. Only have the motor/carbs to worry about.

Now I need to find the cheapest source of those carb-to-motor-rubbers and vacuum rubbers as those seem really worn out (rubber is expensive).

    Hi Kevin

    Welcome from another newbie.
However, you should make thread of your own, so everyone will see it and welcome you too :)

    Yeah, rubber is spendy.
    You want to do THIS.

I did (as did others), it works!

Don't be afraid to hit up our good friend Chacal/Len at XJ4Ever - greatest parts dude ever! 8)
