    Hi gang,
I am trying in vain to get my hands on an original exhaust system for my XJ650 YICS.
I have managed to get to brand new original pipes so all I need now are the downpipes and the collector box along with some gaskets etc.
My question is.. I can across a mint collector box and downpipes of an 82 XJ750 and it looks the same as the one off the 650.. Will this work or is there a subtle difference, maybe in the dimensions.?
    Thanks a mill.

For members that may not know; this applies to the 650 Seca. The exhaust system for all U.S 650 maxim models is the same but different than the Seca system.

Umm, not so sure that they are the same, k-moe. They carry different part numbers, and although I don't have one of each in-hand to compare, I think that the bend angles for both the headpipes and the collector "exits" are different.....so that by the time interchanged the pieces, the outlet angle of the collector exit (to the muffler inlets) is going to be really odd.

    I think....................

Correct. There are indeed subtle differences in bend/angle in both the headpipes and the C/B.

We need HogFiddles to chime in here; he's been playing "mixy-match" with collector box systems relative to the 650R and has learned some valuable info.
