Is there a link to a write up on how to clean the carbs on an 82 XJ650 Maxim? I have a low rpm stumble. I do have some valves to bring back into spec and a petcock to rebuild but if those don't eliminate the stumble, I'm guessing that cleaning carbs will be next. I'd like to be familiar with the process well in advance if possible. Thanks.

Thanks. That looks pretty detailed. Too bad there aren't any pictures. I'm a visual person and sometimes need clarification on what's what. That's a good start though.

Check the carb tutorial at GS resources, lots of detailed images...
It's for the old GS series Suzuki's and they break apart the whole rack (not needed)
But most of the CV carbs of the time looked pretty much the same....
Only some minor diferences from the Hitachi to the Mikuni

Also check in the FAQ suggestions section, more articles in there as well

OR just scan Rickomatics postings on carbs.....
