what should the speed (mph) be at 9,500rpm in fifth gear?

    I was wondering what speed mph the xj700n should be in fifth gear at 9500rpms or 9700rpms

    The specs say 129 at redline. I don't know if I really want to find out.

    That calc is quite simplified. It does not account for aerodynamic drag, which is substantial for a motorcycle at speed.

    (cool fact: 20HP can make a fellow go 145MPH when the vehicle is slippery enough http://buddfab.net/buddfabhomepage.html )

    120-130 in the real world, depending on atmospheric conditions, and the state of the power plant.

    The calc is simple, whether or not it can do it is a different question.

    An easy way to figure is drive exactly HALF redline - 4,750 , and note the speed. For best accuracy, bring along a GPS devise / phone.
