It still has the rear brake assembly, rod, and pedal....I would assume that's how they stop.

I wonder why they didn't pull off the front rotor since they pulled the front brake system.

Running no front brake is not as bad as you make it seem.

On any vehicle the front brake is 70-80% of your braking. Giving up the vast majority of your braking capacity seems pretty damn bad to me.

Specifically on a bike you essentially give up the ability to do an effective emergency stop.

So, tell me, how is it not as bad as that?

I believe what jc was referring to was the fact that finding and installing the front brake isn't hard to do.

I wouldn't pay that kind of money for a bike without front brakes

I personally don't understand why someone would reduce the effectiveness of their bikes stopping power by 70 + % and increase their stopping distance just for fashion/looks

I guess you'd just have to compenate for it with being more cautious in your riding, if you primarily use your rear brake when you have both front and back brakes then you're doing it wrong

Then you are doing it wrong.

If you stick to riding in parades it's OK. If you ride on the speedway wrapped in safety gear and contained by crash barriers, it's OK. Riding a bike with three quarters of it's brakes missing on the street is just not very smart.

The idea that the front brakes are the most of your braking is not something we say. It's a fact.

The few times that I had to slam on my brakes because of some cager not paying attention, I was so glad that I had front brakes. Emergency stops with only a rear brake are impossible. I went out and tried to only use the rear brake to stop on my street. Didn't stop to quickly. I love my rear brake, but only when it is coupled with my wonderul front brake.

Personally, I'd rather have a front brake.
Your original rear brake setting is minimal on a two brake setup. I'm thinking that someone who has a rear brake only, would adjust that brake to work better than the regular setting with a two brake setup. So If you adjusted your rear brake more aggressively, you might find that it can stop your bike quite well.

I try to adjust the back brake to work as well as possible, just because I should be.

the problem with this scenario is that if you lock up the rear tire (and you will), you are going for a ride you don't want to take.
