    I figgure with all of the experience everyone here has a few people would know what some of the best tires for this model of bike is...right now my metzlers are bald...and I'm looking for new tires...theres a lot of choices and I hope that you guys know a few good treads out there.

    I truly hate these type of discussions....

    Now with that said...

    You get what you pay for. Plus the type of tire depends on your riding style. Are you aggressive or a lazy driver? Do you want traction or higher milage?

    I have had a lot of different tires on many different bikes. They range from Cheng Shin and Shinko to Avon, Dunlap, and Metzlers.

    The Shinko 230's on my Suzuki are a nice ride from an inexpensive tire. Great grip for a cruiser. However, they wear faster than the Metzlers they replaced. Dunlap 404 seem to wear the best. Kenda challengers were not one of my favorites. The front liked to follow rain grooves and cracks in the road (as did the Metzlers ME88's). Avon we're are some for grip. But they have only lasted me about 5k (rear) with aggressive riding.

    My recommendations:
    Strapped for cash- Get a set of Shinko 777 or 230
    Lazy driving- get Dunlap 404
    Aggressive driving- Avon Venom

    Just my $0.02 worth,

    I'm an avid rider, I try to be passive...but I'm probably way too agressive....Looking for more traction and tire profile in the turns for better leaning and just overall...Just looked at the avon venoms..I really dig that tread, thanks for the reply Wink, Hopefully we make my maxim happy! \o/

    I've had Spitfire IIs and Dunlop 404s on my bikes before, trying out Bridgestone BT45s this year. I'm really impressed so far, really grippy, but light and responsive. They handle wet conditions well, and are amazing in deep corners. They were a little pricier than other stuff I've ridden, and I don't know how long they'll last. Front has 2000km on it, still looks new. Rear already has 1000k on it, and looks new as well.

    That said, I've heard lots of good things about Pirellis at my local Yammery.

    It's like Wink said. By and large, you get what you pay for.
