I havea 1982 maxim 750. I have cleaned the carbs, put them back together, now the bike starts up but has a lot of white smoke. I know I still have to finish setting the idle, but could someone tell me what the rpms should be when idling. And will this help clear up the smoking?

Idling should be around 1050 to 1100 RPM.

Almost every time I've seen white smoke coming out of mufflers, it was condensation in the lower part of the mufflers evaporating when the exhausts gases heat it. If it is the case, it will clear out completely when the engine is warmed up.

Thanks, your right, the smoke cleared up after running a while. Thanks for the info on the idle rpms.
