Ok so I pulled up to a curb and backed it up to park it. I THOUGHT that I flicked the side stand down. Proceeded to get off the back and suddenly I am, with all my might, keeping it from slamming to the ground. No damage just a bit embarrassing is all. Lifted it back up like it was a dirt bike! Heavy but not as heavy as I thought it would be on it's side.

Laid mine down at a gas station once. Pant leg got caught on something (rear foot peg, center stand maybe) as I was going for the side stand. The first thing you do is look around to see if anybody was watching. And you tend to feel SO stupid.

They all hit the ground at some point, no shame in it.

Yeah I got laughed at when mine went down. Was early morning, didn't give it enough time to warm up and I was late for work. I hopped on put it in gear and tried to take off a lil quicker than I should've, bike died and dropped sideways. Feet were on the pegs already so I couldn't stop it.

Some guy across the street thought it was hilarious but helped me up. Best part is that there was no damage either, highway pegs and turn signals took the blunt of the fall. Just a tiny scuff on the front turn signal and a slight warp on the highway peg.

I laid my Seca over while pulling into a parking space at a vintage bike show! Much embarrass but only one other guy saw me.

I'd recommend finding a set of crash bars (case savers), very much worth the money.

I remember I dropped my very first bike in a sharp turn on loose gravel at low speed, with lots of people around, very embarassing! That was a very effective way to learn not to touch the front brake in this situation.

I had to set my SECA down once when the rear slid out on gravel during a slow turn.

One leg almost horizontal on the bike, the other planted on the pavement.

3 grunts of attempt, and I just couldnt stand it back up. Had to set it down on its side. Broke the right front turn signal.

New to the forum. Just bought an 81 750 Seca to bob. Forgot the kick stand while getting off of it in my garage. My first thought was thank God no one saw it. Oh boy....

I too just dropped mine the other day
was bleeding some air out my front brake line
it was just on the side kick stand
turned the bar to the right a bit and it went over
    softly
landed super soft.. no damage other than
the crash bar is now bent back a little bit
the bike was surprisingly easy to just pull up
    I felt dumb

I dropped mine on the first ride with a new cafe riding group. Pulling in perpendicular into a parking spot that had good amount of incline. I figured I would park that way so others in my group can use the same parking spot. That was the first mistake. Second mistake was not putting the kick stand down before trying to plant my left foot down on the pavement. The pavement was a one or two inches lower than normal on my left due to the incline. Before my foot touched, the bike was leaning too much already. I tried stomping my foot down hard in order to right it. Pulled a ham string with that maneuver and the bike kept on going down in front of all my hardcore cafe riders. No damage other than my pride, slight scratch on engine cover and on the fairing. Novice mistake for someone returning to riding after 20 yrs.

Note to self; When parking on an incline, always point the front will up hill.

Oh, and with a pulled hamstring, I wasn't able to pull her up by myself. Just added to the fun and humiliation.

I've yet to drop my XJ, but came very close on one occasion. Was heading out to a large bonfire at a friend's house. Pulled into their parking area which is gravel. As I was parking the front wheel hit a deep section of gravel causing the bike to want to tip to the right side. Ended up having to pull hard on the throttle of the bike revving the engine to an obnoxious level. Of course everyone at the party had to stop to see what the hell was going on while I fought keep my bike from eating gravel. Wasn't quite the introduction I was looking for, but everyone knew I had arrived.

Not, quite, but nearly. The ramp slid out from under the rear wheel when I was unloading it from the truck on my first day of ownership. The neighbor kids learned a lot of new words. Ever try to hold an XJ up with both feet on the ground and the bars almost as high up as you can reach? I bought a trailer the next weekend.

There are many ways to get hurt when loading in a truck or unloading from a truck, I saw some of them on youtube and I personally went close to broke my left leg unloading my Goldwing a few years ago so, never again!

I was doing testing after rebuilding the carbs on my bike. Where I live there is a gravel loop and the houses are all around it.. a good 1/2 mile long loop. So I was riding and testing.. I sped up just enough that when I hit a freshly laid plot of gravel 4 feet out of someone's gravel my bike went in an inch or two, and flopped on it's right. I have a 4 in 2 exhaust.. and I fell with my bike. I was superman, and that bike's hot exhaust was off my leg quicker than anything else.
