Hello everyone, new to the site, been itching for a motorcycle for years now, finally decided to get it and bought an 83 Yamaha SECA, the project is to turn it into a cafe racer, i am currently trying to get all the info necesary for the mods, and im stuck on the gauges, can anyone help? , i want to use 2.5 mini speed and tacho but havent been able to find the ratio that my bike takes for the tacho and if the speedometer is compatible, or is it just a whole change for both and not use any of the cables already on the bike, any help and info is greatly appreciated. thank you!

Before you go to the effort of modifying the bike: Have you gotten it running as-is? Have you ridden a motorcycle to be sure that you are going to like it enough to modify a bike?

Yes, the bike is mechanically sound and everything works flawlessly, I should correct my post a bit, been riding dirt bikes since I was young, this is my first road bike, I've been cruising on it since I got it a few weeks back and am very happy with the overall feel, power and weight of it, being and older bike it does need a fresh coat of paint, so since I am doing that I want to take the opportunity to modify and adjust to my liking and make it look as good as it makes me feel while riding it.

Been looking at gauges, and still haven't been able to figure out which ones to get, I'm interested in the 2.5 mini speedometer and tachometer that dime city cycles has on their site, but how can I know which ratio is my bike for the tachometer and If the speedometer is compatible? Or is there a universal kit I can purchase to adapt it? Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you.

I believe all the Asian bikes use the same ratio, so you would need the ones made for Asian bikes.

I went to their website and did a search, the only part listed for your bike was a cable. Wasn't very helpful which is probably why you asked right?:)
I would suggest you go to MikesXS.net, I'm sure they will have what you need.

Yeah, i will start posting pictures as soon as the build starts, im gathering everything so i can get thru it all at once (granted there will be hiccups along the way) but at least have all the parts, already got the shop on standby were the frame and engine will be prepped and painted, it does drive me a bit nuts to be getting parts in the mail and im just hovering parts where they are going to be to get and idea of the look hehe...also i step outside and spend time just sitting on the ground looking at it going thru the lines and angles, cant wait to start building......SOON...
