Just curious if anyone would know the approximate correct temp at the header closest to the engine? I switched over engines to my spare, and noticed that the temps are not even. The middle two cylinders are running hotter. Wondering also what the proper jetting would be for my 81 jx650 maxim with 4 into 1 exhaust and pods on the carbs? I thought i seen some where that the inner two need to be jetted richer?

there's too many variables to use exhaust temp for tuning. how long was it run, outside temp, dual wall pipes.....
it's best just to read the plugs

Ya I guess that is not a good measure of how it is running, I guess i was more concerned that I don't overheat it and cook it!

    how's it run?
if your cruising along and back off the throttle and it seems to speed up before it slows down, that would indicate lean

Actually runs decent but I really haven't had much time on it yet as I just got it in today. Think I will re sync it and set everything again. Might help as this engine probably hasn't run in 10 years! Just guessing! As i bought the whole thing for around 100 bucks and it sitting outside it might have needed a bit to loosen up.

Start at the beginning - valve lash adjust, correct oil, sync & tune, read plugs . . .
