Beauty. You really earned your $2.00/ hour on that project :D (I figured my pay on a similar project once. I never figured that again).

there was a post here awhile ago about filing the "yamaha" off one of those. and i guess you could but there's a lot of flaws in the castings and it would be a lot of work. next thing is
to glue it in without messing up the plastic and not having globs of glue showing. too bad all i had was orange plastic

I'd use a small bead of clear RTV, and mask the face of the plastic to keep any squeeze-out off of it.

I use this stuff for my fishing rods. It drys clear. There no yellowing. And you can get all of the air bubbles out after its mixed with a hair dryer. And it's pretty cheap.

I like this Polock, I remember years back seeing a custom iron head Sportster with a clear float bowl on his carb as well as a clear points cover, it was cool to see the sparks hit when the contacts opened and closed.

Curious, why did you mill the entire center down rather than just mill the edge around the groove and cut out the center?

polock, that's really cool. Do a write-up, and maybe Schmuck will put on xj4ever.com-----

I may just experiment with making a set myself!

that cover had big time rash and i was going to make it flat on the lathe. but it had too many flaws in the casting and i couldn't get a good finish, that was a long time ago.
then i saw something on here about making one flat and got thinking (bad). i had a clear cover on a XR75 years ago because i put the shifter through the original cover.
maybe if it was yellow and matched the reflectors and wires.

I see you're missing the loop for the speedo cable on your front fender... Do you need one? I probably have another floating around here---

that's the brake line, the speedo is that wire. i don't think there's enough slack in the brake line to put it in a guide, thanks anyway.

Can you rig an LED inside the cover to flash with a coil signal ??

you could but it would use power that should be going to the coils and that's not such a good idea. could tap off one wire from the alternator but i don't know how fast it would blink

an LED would use very little juice, but I digress......what about tying it into the tach signal?

It would flash 17 times a second at idle - which is a bit fast,

I was just wondering if there was a pin in the TCI that had the extra juice to fire the LED without affecting the ignition, reliability, etc.

Maybe a separate pick-up coil could be epoxied in there just to fire the light ??
Don't forget another light behind a clear clutch cover. . .

Then add the firefly lights to the valvestems....

Wire the light under the two cover so they spin in reverse--- people will get dizzy seeing All the spinning--- lol

I want it to blink to the music playing on my smart phone.
There should be a app for that somewhere.
