Is this a novel idea, cut 50mm off the bottom of a clear plastic bottle.
Now you can really see what is going on.

Interesting, but how do you get the gas out when you are finished?

Novel indeed but are you using it to measure anything? The plastic would have to be formed in the shape of the bowl to accurately set the float height, correct?

No, the float is affected by the level of fuel not the volume of fuel. I'm not sure I would try this but wizard thinks it works great and you don't have to mess with sticky bowl drain valves.

Volume in the bowl will raise or lower the fuel level. The inside shape and size of the bowl determine how much (volume) fuel it will take to reach spec level. The floats rise with the level and is adjusted to shut off the amount of fuel in the bowl at the desired spec level. Kinda' works like the set up in a toilet tank.

Level is level even if the bowl was 50 foot diam'.
Just thought, you wouldn't even need to remove the bowls to CHECK the level, just remove the drain plug, as long as the plastic bottle was wide enough.

You're correct. My apologies...i had a brain fart last night. You're not measuring how much fuel it takes to reach spec level. You're setting the tang to shut off the fuel supply in the spec level plane. My bad. I'll shut up now.o_O

Still, how do you drain it without spilling anything?

More novelty. Something like the thing we use to remove the oil around the cams to check valve clearance (a snot cleaner for babies). He only needs to remove enough fuel for the level to drop below spec.

So you've shifted the effort downstream. It's easier to check the level, but harder to drain the bowl in order to make adjustments to the float.
Novelty, yes but thats it. Not really a solution to the question of making wet-setting floats any easier.

Big funnel into the gas can, flick off the wire 'cradle' & your good to go again.
I only tried this method as these bowls don't have a spigot for a clear tube.
It is the quickest, easiest, surest method I've ever used.

Instead of using the BOTTOM of the bottle, use the TOP with the twist-off lid.
    or
glue on a drain tube and golf tee. I like the idea.

    I have a question:

    Where are the FLOATS?

I don't see any floats in the pics. Was this just a "proof of concept" and you need bigger bottle bottoms for room for the floats?

    Or am I missing something?

Fitz.......look again--they're right there at the top. That's what the black is. You're getting distracted by the refraction and distortion. Look at the floatpin and let your eyes follow around.

We're used to seeing the floats at an angle. But here, they are floating up into their chamber tops, so all you see is just a little of the floats.
