Ok...I'm new here and I just picked up an 83 xj750r seca for next to nothing. Only problem is that they guy tried to take off the intake bolts and broke 2 of them. What's the best way to extract them? Oh yeah. ....the other minor problem is that he misplaced the bolts!!!!!! What size are they and where is the best place to get them?

    Ouch,

Ok, If you have enough of the bolt exposed, you may be able to use a bolt extractor.

If not, I'd load that puppy into a truck and have a machine shop extract it.

The bolts are 6mm, try drilling them out with a left handed drill bit 4.8mm

At the shop I've got a neighbor that is a welding business. I've got to where I take most of the broken bolts to him. He welds a nut on (even if it's broken sub-flush) and unscrews it. The nut gives him something to turn and the heat helps break the bolt free.

You might look for someone to do that.

Have fun with that, mine had 4 (hidden by a PO with silicone) and even welding a washer and nut to them they still broke off deeper inside. First time I've been unsuccessful with the welding route.

Be careful not to break a drill bit or EZ out in the bolt as you're really screwed then. If you can pull the head, machine shop is totally the way to go.

Also, if your intakes are not in great shape, consider replacing them. Chacal has the complete set with bolts, vac caps, and good quality gaskets:

HCP22288 Aftermarket Yamaha rubber COMPLETE INTAKE MANIFOLDS SET $ 159.95

I just got mine last week. Considering the effort to fix the bolts and pulling carbs off, its nice to know they're good to go.

IF nothing else, they can be removed through electrical disintegration ( I think it's called EDM?)

yep, or a "spark eroder", I recently took a carb, to have a pilot screw eroded out, worked well, but not particularly cheap.

    no Dave... it's called Dubstep....

With those bolts, i'd go to a machine shop.... then it's not your problem to deal with, and their's when it inevitably goes from bad to worse....
