    Hi,

My ignition barrel is a little damaged, so I'll be changing it soon. I've never been able to tell if this model has a steering lock. Also, I'll need to know so I can find the right ignition switch on eBay!

    The bike:
    1980 XJ650, Australian model (VIN/Chassis prefix: 4k1-).

    Thanks,

    Mark

Disclaimer: Idk if the uk model work like the us model.

    Test for steering lock:

1.Put the bike on the center stand with the key in the ignition at the off position.
    2. Rotate the handle bars as far left as possible.
    3. Push the key down and turn the key to the left 45* from the off position.
    4. Remove the key and rotate the handle bars to the right. They should move a little then the lock should stop them.
5.Reverse this procedure to remove the lock.

Thank you both! I'll do the test Gary suggested and then hit up eBay!
