    Bike is a 81 yamaha maxim 650.
I got rid of air box and putting on the pod filters. Already jetted the main jets, pods are on there way.. I go to try it out.. start the bike.. and gas starts blowing out of the breather (i cut the og tube that went to air box and put a small k&n filter at the end)
Please someone tell me what is going on here. Thanks in advance for your help I'm learning as I go
    cheers!

It sounds crazy. Petrol is coming out of the crankcase breather?
the only way I could explain that is if your carbs are leaking petrol into the engine and its dripping past the rings into the crankcase.

In normal operation, exhaust gasses will escape past the rings into the crankcase and the downstroke of the pistons will increase the pressure in the crankcase, hence the need for a breather/recirculation system/oil catch can.
There are likely to be some unburnt mixture in this as well, which may smell like petrol. If your engine is getting knackered, then this will be exacerbated.
But it shouldnt be overly dramatic and I cant imagine anyone describing this in normal operation as "gas blowing out the breather"

How long have you had the bike, how long has it been doing this, what was the last mod you made to the bike before discovering the problem?

I'm looking at your rotor/stator cover and I think I'm looking at petrol stains from leaking carbs. Am I right?
Cos if so, then you'll need to address your valve float needles. If they are not sealing properly when the carbs are full, you'll be getting fuel flowing onto the gear box on one end, and into the engine on the other.
Which then goes past the rings into the crankcase etc etc.

Does your oil smell like petrol?

He has two threads on the same topic. The issue has been addressed in the other thread.
