Hey guys I was wondering what steps are necessary to install clubmans.
I'm fine with stock handlebars really but I do enjoy clubmans... so is there any big hassle in installing them?
    I've got a 1982 xj650 seca

As long as they are 7/8ths bars, they will fit without problems. I put a pair on my 700Max, but they were turned up. Had to use a longer clutch cable.

I have clubmans on my bike the cables I had were longer and had to position them just right to be able to turn without hitting the tank

    Thanks everyone.

I'll get back to you on that through PM once i figure out if it would be a hassle in the end or not, cool?

What i would like to know is if these bars would fit without a riser?
and will i have to raise the triple trees?

they look like they would be comfortable with rearsets, laying on the tank but other than that you wrists would be in a unnatural position

A friend of mine actually had a set! I'll probably throw them on in the spring and see how I like them...
I found myself leaning forward last season quite a bit so it'll be cool to feel what it's like.

I think you'll find that if you put them in the most comfortable position, the bars will hit the tank. I haven't tried clubmans on my 650 Seca but I did have flat bars for a while which are way less radical, but I still had to put some limiters on the steering lock to prevent the switchgear on the bars from hitting the tank at full lock.
Good news that you have a set to try before you commit to spending money on them. Nothing like trying them on for size.
Just for fun, try taking the stock bars and flipping them upside down. If you like clubmans you might like that and they would be wider (better leverage and clearance).

I had clubmans on my 650 Seca, but switched to clip ons. I like the lower position, besides I already had to put stop limiters on the lower triple clamp with the clubman bars. With rearsets it's a sweet set up.

Ahhh shit, maybe i'll need those... do you have a site for them by chance?
Also, i looked into rearsets and 1) they're damn expensive and 2) I'm only 5"7 so when i'm
leaning forward I don't find stock controls to be all that bad

another edit: Oh shit... if i recall correctly my bike actually might already have stoppers on it.
It's in my cousins garage but i'm sure i remember seeing circular rubber pads i suppose you can call them on the frame... I THINK! If i can get over there this weekend or tonight i'll take a picture and see if these are adequate.

and another edit: So i got over there and yeah no circular rubber pads so I really have no idea what to look for or what to install if it were to hit the tank.

Dime city cycles has the clipons (36 mm) I too am vertically challenged at 5'7". The loaded gun rearsets work great on the Seca, with the universal linkage kit. photo 1.JPG photo 2.JPG

Those are pretty sick actually! I wasn't exactly clear but I was asking about the stop limiters as well, do you have a site for them?

I used JB weld and a couple of 8 mm nuts on the lower triple clamp stops. Hope this helps. Seca 650's are a blast to ride!
