Welp, I done effed up and cracked the top right corner off my cylinder head with the valve shim tool.

Plan on getting a replacement off ebay. what are some no go signs to look for when buying a used cylinder head?

what else do I need to buy besides a head gasket? and can anyone point me in the right direction for renewing valves? I want to try and get this Head in really good shape before putting it on. i've already got the valve cover gasket and pressure washers.

    What bike?

    Should be:
    Head gasket
    Yics gaskets
    Cam chain tensioner gasket
Valve stem seals (if you lap valves)
    Intake manifold gaskets
    Exhaust manifold gaskets
    Valve cover gasket
    "Doughnuts"

A good welder can probably rebuild that for you. Probably less $$ than a replacement head and way less aggravation (it can probably be done without removing the head/cams etc.).

should I just take the cylinderhead off and bring it to a weld shop? it cracked one of the screw holes off on the corner, would tightening down the valve cover f*** up the weld or would it be strong enough to hold?

The weld would probably be stronger than the original head.

My main point was that it should be able to be welded in place. If you busted the bolt hole you'll probably have to drill and tap - that'll be the hardest part as far as getting to it goes. Still, corner should be pretty accessible.

hmm, alright well imma see how much they'll charge me for the weld and just replace all the seals anyways, sure it wouldn't help.

    thanks for the replies dood.
