Hi All. I noticed my 82' 750 has a small seethrough plastic cyclinder under the tank which houses some wires and transistors (by the look of it). It had come loose and was sitting on top of the heads (wires still plugged in) and now my bike won't start. Was this standard on the XJs and what is it? Thanks.

Whatever it is was not there when it rolled off of the assembly line.

Yeah, we need a picture, but I'm already guessing at a fuel filter.

That's my amateur guess, based on my hunt to identify my headlight relay. It was a small and plastic and had wires, and was "supposed" to be under my tank (different story). but don't think it was a cylinder, or see through. Maybe aftermarket?

Fuel filters don't have wires and transistors in them!! At least not on the XJ's that I'VE ever seen.....

I agree. Sounds aftermarket. Is the "power in" wires part of the harness and if so what color(s) are they? Got that picture yet?

Remember all those relays yud get from radio shack in the 90's were clear? Wonder if one got replaced somehow with one of those. A lot can be "improved" by a PO in 33 years:D
