anyone know how to depin this harness 83 xj 750

    Hey guys I'm looking at trying to depin this throttle cable. I've done depins before but I can't seem to get this one. Its gonna fit into a 650 harness but it's a 750 body. anyone know how to do this thanks

    You have to have the right size sleeve to slide down the barrel of each plug wire in order to depress the barbs

    yes ,I had the same problem a couple of months ago, (there was a thread about it)
    I hit on an idea that worked for me
    see if you can find one of these, a squeesy spray bottle

    then take the centre tube out
    [​IMG]
    push the tube down over the pin, to bend the barbs in ,whilst pulling on the wire, to pull it out the back

    ok, this one is a male and not female ,but it should work the same, here's the tube on the end of the pin.

    Yeah, I knew there was a thread talking about the specific tube, but I couldn't find it---- that was the one!

    O wow thank you I never wouldve thought to try that. Yea I didn't want to cut an fix unless I had to. The 650 throttle cable fits on there but the gap bothers me so I'm trying to keep the 750 with the factory grips. Hopefully this works I'll try it tomorrow an let you guys know.

    Ok guys sorry for the long wait, work was picking up :( but anywho your trick worked. I tried it on the female no success but did it on the male an it ended up working thanks again.

    ah, yes ,that would be right.
    I only tried it on the male, the female would obviously be larger,
    i'll try to find a tube to fit the female, when I get chance

    you could also use the correct tool, but a tad expensive, for a one shot use,
