lmao! Honestly him and a few others on here really are. Ridiculous wisdom on these bikes. That's what happens when you love something with passion and I admire that. And to be able to share that wisdom with others- that's class.

Just get a SET of clamps and be done with it. Yours are junk and there's no fixing them.

I know from earlier pics that your bottom clamp/spindle is for the RJ.... I just wanted a clear picture to verify something else. So... At this point, we KNOW:

    1. You have a mismatched clamp set
    2. Your spindle has been bent
    3. It was bent the wrong direction
    4. You really should have a replacement clamp set

    Here's your options:

    1. A complete set from a 650 RJ
    2. a complete set from a 650 maxim
** Either of these will be fine. Under normal circumstances they are not interchangeable unless tank modifications or performed. I wrote about that last year. However because you have a different tank, smaller tank, you don't have to worry about clearance issues so either triple will work.

    3. 750 maxim or 750 seca clamp set
Just be sure to get the right one for the single handle bar, not the clip-ons.

These all take the same diameter forks, and all have the same fork width.

    My concluding thoughts....

    1. get another rj set....that's what would be original to that frame and headtube. It will also keep the slightly more raked look

    2. A Maxim set would probably be easier to locate, so maybe get one of those to be able to at least ride while you're looking for the correct rj set

    3. The 750 sets will work, but again, you'll have to make sure to get the single-bar type, not the clip-on type. The 750 seca was a single piece bar....the 750 maxim is the one that had the different types available.

    4. DON'T mix and match tops and bottoms.

Still trying to figure out what you mean by "left oil drain"......The oil drain is centered in the front underneath the oil filter......

if you look at the pic, he is looking for the left oil galley plug. it looks like someone put an oil temp sensor in it.

Wait so my lower triple tree clamp is not the same as the upper clamp?? How'd you figure that out Dave?

Yeah exactly that. It's a temp sensor for my aftermarket gage. The gage is gorgeous. The bike shop I took it too were morons. They did quite a bit of damage to the bike in retaliation for me not letting them rip me off lol. 7.45hours to install a gage? Lololololol. Mechanic my ass. Didn't know sh*t about xj bikes. Just wanted easy money. A year later, he returned half of it cause guys from my extended crew got involved.

I could tell by looking it the pics.... I just wanted to see numbers to verify.

The top part says 4h7, that's 650 maxim. The bottom part has a hole/screw/bolt in the side.... So mount the black trim piece. The 650 maxim does not have that hole, so it's cant be for the maxim. The 650 RJ has that hole, so I assume at least that is original for your bike.

    Observation and study.......

Wait. The maxim clamp 4h7 was never on my bike. I've never used that clamp. It's just something I put in the picture to show that I accidentally bought the wrong part. The bottom clamp has a 2 on it. That's on my bike. The two RJ clamps are obviously for my bike. One of them is broken now but that was on my bike.

Don't show me pictures of parts that aren't on your bike then!

I tried other parts because other parts CAN PARTLY fit even though they might not be the right parts. That's why I was mixing parts around. I ask to see your part numbers so I could compare them. Stop showing me parts that you don't have. I need to see what parts are currently on your bike.

Are you going to tell us next that the head tube came off of the 550 maximum instead????? Or show us some other part numbers and then tell us that's not really for your bike either? I know the lower trees from the RJ it's obvious from the picture, but the upper clamp could not be seen as clearly that's why wanted to know the number on that! I just wanted to see the top of the bottom of the clamp so I can verify something else!

I think I'm going to go back to the top of this form and start all over again…

If your steering stem is bent, there's a pretty good chance your Frame is bent, too. If not, being it's a custom job, it is possible that there are some Maxim parts on it. We can't guarantee that at this point but there is that possibility because there are interchangeable parts. For example forks, triple tree, clamps, Rams, handlebars, etc.… Are interchangeable with 650s and 750s. Some of those parts while the interchange will interfere with the other parts though, Unless other parts or changed to allow for things to fit.

We may be able to help you out, but If we ask for pictures, show us just what we ask for, And don't show us things that aren't on your bike.

ahahaha damn! Alright. I'll remember that. I posted it to show the difference but I guess that wasn't needed. lol.

So the top and bottom clamps are RJ. The stem is bent through a custom job (which I knew). Is that sounding right so far?

WOOO! Just ordered the SECA stem set thanks to Dave. What a great find. Thanks brother!!

...the best part? It was in Canada. Got it for $40 something. Can't beat that. Let's just hope it's all straight and fine. Keep you guys updated on how it comes along. Still need other things.
