    Hey everyone,

I have an '82 Maxim XJ750, and I ordered a set of these off of ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/271751623906?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

I installed them, bled my brakes, and tested it.. but no matter what I do I can't get the new MC to push enough pressure down the system to activate my brakes fully. It will activate them slightly once I bottom the lever out, but anything before that I get nothing.

Out of curiosity, I grabbed my old brake lever that had a bolt with a nut that pressed the MC on it for adjustments, and with the bolt completely threaded into the handle without a nut, I was able to get the brakes to compress properly.

Did I order something that won't work with my bike? What are my options? Should I bleed the system again? Order a different MC?

I'm not super mechanically inclined and I've been fumbling my way through this stuff, so this has me stumped.

your bike is not listed as being compatiable . your choice could kill you, but what the h... rebleed.

with all the choices you had (for less $$) why did you pick that one?

for 18$ you could have rebuilt yours.

I looked at piston size and from what I was able to research, it looked like it would work. Not many things are listed as being compatible with the XJ bikes these days so I have to improvise.

I like the look and feel of shorty levers as well as round reservoirs, and at first glance I thought it would work but turns out I might be wrong.

Do you have any suggestions on MC's that would work?

Looks like I went off some bad info.. from what I can tell our MC piston size is 17mm and the levers I bought have a 14mm piston.
