put the new clutch in and reassembled everything.
now I can't squeeze the clutch....
is my torque wrench not working and bolts too tight on the springs?

Did you line the dots up?

The pressure plates on the 650/700/750 are different. There is no special locating tab, clutch boss spring, or special friction plate.

How much did you remove in the tear down? Did you remove the center nut and spindles the plates sit in? Sounds like it is being pulled to far when putting the lever and cover back on.

I have the same bike, N model. Just bought it about a week ago real cheap. Guy before me took all kinds all stuff apart and, naturally it was dirty and worn out. I ran through everything, got er running. Now im having about the same problem as ronha13 but opposite. I pull in on clutch and it dosent seem like the lever pulls far enough.
the only plate with a mark on it is the outermost has a half circle cutout on one tab and the cover has a dot that lines up underneath.
There is aslo a bit of slack on the gear shaft the lever pulls on.

New user, first time post thanks in advance. Love the site, been a huge life saver the last week.

You need to remove that slack. Rotate the throwout arm clockwise until it stops, then adjust the cable so there is no slack at the clutch arm end. Adjust the lever end so there is 2 to 3 mm of free play at the lever.
