Hello again people.before almost one year i have posted
    here
    Today we talked again.
    here
This photo is not mine.i just drew the blue stuff in order to show you
what he had told me.So,he told me that the two blue rectangles have
some gaskets inside them.Plus the two other blue lines(i just don't
know where exactly). Moreover i have drawn the axis(at least this is
how i can translate it from greek). So,are those gaskets impossible to
be found?that's what he said.and he also told me that if i find some
new gaskets it may also possible to have problems with the axis(those
gaskets are related to the axis).so it's not 100% sure that the bike
will be fixed.but i would like to give it a try in case i can find
such gaskets.he told me that the companies that create the carbs don't
    sell such things.
    my main problems are:
a)at 3rpm/s the bike is like it has stacked a lot of gas(in the carbs)
    and when i push it(more gas),it's like driving a r6 lol
b)and a second problem.it dribbles oil from the tubes that are
connected to the carbs.those tubes are under the seat and are pointing
to the road so 'stuff' from the carbs can be released.
i hope you have understood my poor english :)
thanks once more.i really look forward hearing(some good news) from
    you. :)
c)btw do you know diversion xj400s which exactly carbs uses?mikuni of
    course but which model?

Your description sounds like the only real problem you have is float valves are leaking. The gaskets you mention are the throttle shaft seals and there are also fuel passage orings near these locations. Neither of these would have fuel leaking out the drain hoses. It would leak out the carbs and onto the engine. So a pulling of the carbs and replacing the float valves and seats would correct the fuel drain. The float valves and seats are all available in a carb kit. I will check on the carbs to see which model of Mikuni's you have.
Your riding a R6 problem is most liely caused by this same problem. A rich mixture is present due to fuel stacking up in the float bowls. When you open the throttle the fuel is pulled into the intakes and the bike goes fast. So I think the carb kits will take care of this too.

Hello BlueMaxim.I don't know why but your answer gave me some chances, that i will see it working right!
Some more info.I bought the xj400s before two years. It had this specific problem from the time i bought it.I spent a lot of money. Some 'engineers' make it work like a real 400 for one or two days and then the same problem. The engineer that i trust right now told me this thing about those gaskets(orings).
I would like to ask you.The thing about the orings that he told me(the blue rectangles in the picture i posted),is this true or not? With this kit,can i fix the problem?really?I have been told that some xj400s had this particular problem with the carbs(from the factory or the differences between japan and europe-in climate). Some other xj400s not.And the most importart thing(lol) how much such a thing cost?I'm waiting for more info from you sir.
Thank you very much for your answer.

Is there evidence of leaking fuel at the ends of the carbs where you have your blue squares? If not, then the butterfly shaft seals are probably alright. Your problems sound more like the float bowls need to be cleaned and the valves replaced. A carb kit will have these parts in them. If you do need butterfly shaft seals, that will take a little more investigating.

Do you have any pictures of your actual carbs?

<oddly enough, I will be in Greece the first week of November...probably too late for you>

    Hello PghXJ.
I don't know.He told me that there are some orings in the blue rectangles that need to be replaced.BUT this ain't possible so i have to buy new carbs.
It's impossible to find such orings, that's what he told me.Moreover he told me that when a bike has such a problem:
if those orings need to be replaced then the axis is alright. And vice versa.
It's rare to have problems both of them(axis+orings in the blue rectangles).
I will try to take a few pictures of the carbs. But i have to do it on my own so it will take some time.
BTW I it's oil,but i don't know if it's also fuel(sending two images from where this mixture comes out).
    photo 1
    photo 2
In photo 1 i have to replace it because it's broken. So after replacing it the oil(maybe and full) will come out from photo 2.
Does it help more? The fact that it's oil what does it mean?
PghXJ you are very welcome even in November.Where exactly are you coming here in Greece? It would be great if you could take a look :)
    Thanks again!

I know that some have replaced the o-rings on the butterfly shaft. I wouldn't say it is impossible. It may be a challenge to get them, but you can surely get them.

where is that bolt in Photo1?

photo2 just indicates that there was overflow. This might be a gas in the oil situation causing the oil level to rise enough to flow out the overflow. Remove your oil fill cap and see if the crankcase has a fuel smell to it.

This has stuck float valve written all over it.

As for where I will be in Greece, I know I will be in Athens for at least 3 days. But we will also be traveling around the land as well as taking a cruise over to Turkey. I will have to get the itinerary for the land tour and see if we go anywhere close to you.

    Hello again PghXJ.
    here
If it's going to solve my problems yes i will.can you give me some more info?

I live in the second largest city of Greece. You will make me to travel to Athens.Yes i will lol

    After using the motorcycle?Or anytime?

So,what is your advice?A photo of the carbs would help you more?Do you advice me to try the carbs kit? Please let me know what would help you more on finding the problem.I mean a carbs photo, what else?
Moreover another thing(the final one:p) When i switch on the bike it makes a noise but when the engine is hot it doesn't.
I suppose i have to create a mp3 for this one lol ;)

Your photo tells me a lot. The first photo is the oil galley access plug and it has some orings on it. you could pull them and have a bucket to catch the oil that will come out and take the plug to an auto parts store. They may have some orings that will fit.
The second photo is the carb drain hose. If fuel is leaking out of it then you either need to replace the float valves in the carbs or the fuel petcock. If the fuel petcock on your main fuel tank is marked "on, res, & pri" then turn it to "on". If it is marked "on, off & res" then turn it to off. Remove the fuel line from the petcock to the tank and see if fuel leaks out of the petcock. If it does then you need to rebuild or replace the petcock. If it doesn't then the fuel is coming from the carbs and the carb kits should fix that.
The blue boxes on your carb photo is at the area of the fuel passages and the throttle shaft. IF fuel is leaking there it will be on the outside of the carbs and not coming from the drain hose.

Beat me to it, but basically that is what you need to do before you go buying parts to fix it.

    Let's summarize:
a)I know how to fix photo 1.When i fix it all the oil will go out of photo 2.
b)BlueMaxim you are talking about fuel.i would like to say again it's oil maybe with fuel.Does it make any difference?
c)So you are telling me to:

    do this thing first?

I'm not an engineer.I have a manual about xj600s diversion.Do you want me to remove the fuel tank in order to do that?
In case i need the kit,how much does it cost?
ps:I have found this one from a well known manual. Is this related to what you are telling me to do firstly?

Set the petcock and check it for leaking first. You do not have to remove the tank for this. The setting on the petcock is to see if it is sealing or not allowing the fuel to flow. I listed two markings on the petcock because there are two types. One is marked "on, res, & off" and the other is marked "on, res & pri". If the petcock is stopping fuel when it should then I would only work on the oil leak. From what you are now saying I believe all that is leaking is oil.
The photos from the manual show the petcock. You only have to turn the petcock off and pull the fuel line. Nothing else has to be removed. If it leaks then this may be why your throttle delays then goes fast like an R6.

Some new photos in order to help.
My question is that petcock has two hoses(photo 4).
Which one should i remove(the one is connected to the full pump and the other to a carb?).After removing it i must turn on the bike?
    Thank you for your patience.

ps:someone told me that maybe the membranes at the carbs have to be replaced.but i think my engineer would have told me that.

I decided to remove the cable which is connected to the full pump.I get a few fuel(i think it was coming from the side of the fuel pump not from the fuel tank) and then it stopped.I then turned it to 'res' in order to see if it was playing with the right hose and it started throwing fuel.
How do i continue now? :)

Sorry, for a late post. I was away for the weekend. Since you have a fuel pump you don't have to worry about the petcock. Unfortunately I wasn't aware that the 400 had a fuel pump. There is little information available for it also. But I would think that since the fuel pump will regulate fuel flow that the rich carb condition would then be the fuel height in the float bowls being too high. You can check my Photo gallery for pics on how to check float heights. When checking the fuel height the fuel will either rise high and stay there or will on some carbs continue to rise and spill out of the carbs. If this happens then new float valves or float needles are needed. If the fuel doesn't overflow then teh float heights just need to be lowered. They are lowered by bending the float tab that pushed the float needle into position. Bend it "slightly" just enough to seat the float needle sooner.

ok this is something that i can't do of course.if i'm lucky and PghXJ visits my town then it could be done.
anyway,if needles are needed or even valves how can i find new one?
so the carbs kit is not needed?
will a photo of the carbs help you?i will try to remove the full tank the next days.
    Thank you!

So why not just have the poor fellow pull the carbs off and ship them to one of us for a mercy-rebuild?
