Anyone know if these'll fit an XJ750? I'd imagine but I don't know frame specs to check if there is a difference between the 650 and 750 Maxim..

I'm not too sure either. I would imagine it would mate up fine. I've seen several threads about swapping a 750 engine into a 650 frame so the frame mounts must be the same. That is where these controls mount up as well so by that reasoning, I'd say yes. I would suggest emailing that ebay seller and asking him. I've emailed him several times before I purchased and he was very helpful.

Very! I may have to grab a set of these... I'm a big guy, I could use a little extra legroom... ;)

    Keep us updated!

I just installed the set of forward controls. I'm 5'10" and it is a good stretch for me. Not too long and not too short. I posted some new pics that sorta show how they look. I can get better ones this weekend though after I make my conecting rods.

What sort of modification are we talking about here? Are you referring to changing the joints on the linkages (shown in your excellent pictures; thanks, btw), or does it require actual modifications to the bike or the controls?

Thanks very much for the info... I'm very seriously considering these now.

At the risk of being a pain in the you-know-where, would it be possible for someone with a set of these to get a picture of someone seated on the bike with the new controls?

Instructions were included and they were actually very easy to install.
    1. Remove two bolts from motor mount (the ones going to the frame)
    2. Mount the control to the plate using the supplied long bolt (You should def use Loctite)
    3. Mount that whole shebang to the frame using the supplied longer motor mount bolts (The kit was not supplied with washers but a package of 5/16' flat and lock washers should suffice for the whole job) - Loctite again and I used the torque specs listed in the Haynes manual for that location (I think it was 30 ft/lbs)
    4. Remove the brake and shift assemblies; pegs, linkage and all.
*Now is where the finagling came into play
    5. Remove the link (the piece that slides over the knurled guy coming out of the engine or frame) from the assembly by drilling out or grinding off the pin. Drill out the hole to accommodate the 5/16" bolt on the ball joint.
    (see my pics)
    6. Attach the supplied ball joint (I also ordered the linkage kit from the manufacturer) to the controls and modified links using the nut and washers.
    7. Mount the link facing UP on the shifter and DOWN on the brake side, hold the controls in place and measure the threaded rod to the correct length. (the rod will thread about 3/4" into each ball joint so take that into account during your measurement)
    8. Cut the rod to length (if your careful you shouldn't have to clean the threads with a die
    9. I also covered about 90% of the rod with a pipe I cut to length (forget the size, got it in Home Depot in the hardware section) because the rod bent on the brake side my first test ride. (it's a stretch of over a foot and it's pushing not pulling so it's likely to bend)
    10. Painted the rods with flat black and made some final pedal height adjustments. (since the rod isn't left and right threads, you can't adjust it like a turnbuckle. you have to either move the link on the knurled guy or cut more rod.

OK, I think my ramblings have ended.
    Hope this helps.

P.S. I'm 6'4" with a 38" inseam. I'll see if I can talk my wife into taking a pic of my gangly legs on the pegs.

    "I'm 6'4" with a 38" inseam"

I've made myself sound like some kind of freak. I meant a 34" inseam.
Now I'm picturing myself with some weird long leg/smushed torso......

I have the e-bay ones on my bike. Had to us a brake arm from a xs650 to clear the pipes. I uploaded pics to show what they look like.
