I have an 81 750 Seca and both my speedo and my tach have given up the ghost, just wondering if any other guage sets (perhaps the nice round ones from an XJ550) are directly compatible with the 750,

    Thanks for your help,

    Jay

You might just have "Dried-out" or stuck Indicator Pivot bushings.

Put a (1) ONE drop of Oil from a Precision Oiler on all the Pivot Bushings.

This process cures "Lazy, slow, and needs-a-tap" troubles too!

Rick, I do appreciate the suggestion, but I probably should have been more specific when I said my guages "gave up the ghost" the speedo actually spun itself apart, the needle broke off and now the stumpy little numb just flys around in circles, so replacment is my only option. Although I will try your suggestion on my tach, so maybe I can get away with just replacing the guts of the speedo.

    Thanks again,

    Jay

yeah I was wondering if any are compatible too.

I like the look of some round guages instead of the boxy look of my 81 panel.

I saw a round, 140-Speedo and matching Tach on a guy's XJ-Bike, last month at Loudin.

The Faces were Black on a White background. The indicator "Lighted-up" with a kind-of "Fiber Optic" type light.

They were "Blue lit" at night.

And, I almost choked on Snickers Bar when he told me how much.

    $699.00 for the Pair.

I guess I'll be waiting for the Far-East Knock-off's in faux-chrome, made by enslaved orphan's for 12-cents a week; before buying a pair, for cash, with no paperwork, from a guy who has two that fell off a truck.

Ive recently found some replacements for around 50-100 bucks for mechanical speedos and tachs. I havent tried them yet but they might work. Ill look around and give you a link or two if you want. Im thinking about removing my whole guage cluster and just putting in a single speedo and make two light indicator lights for my nuetrul light and turn signal light since thats all I really need.

I just NEED a Speedo that not a "Double-digit" era clock.

    Whose bright idea was that?
    This is useless.
    Except in School Zones.
