I put slightly shorter shocks (1" under stock) on my 550 Seca to make it more comfortable for my wife. The bike now sits a bit more upright on the stand than I'd like it to, and I worry that an uneven parking surface might let it tip over.

So, is it best to cut and weld, or to just heat up and bend the kickstand? I have a spare one, so I can experiment.

Either works. If you bend you will want to make an S bend so the pad sits level. If you weld make sure to bevel the ends of the cuts and use enough amperage to get good penetration, or use a length of tubing as a sleeve and plug weld it.

I put mine in a 20 ton shop press and bent it.
