This is my goal, take my hasn't run in 3 years currently stripped to the frame xj650 maxim with 22k miles and have it together by june 1 so I can tune and work out the bugs in order for its maiden voyage which will take place June 26.

335 miles 5 hours and 15 minutes from Cumming GA to Hilton Head SC to meet up with my family on their vacation.

Basically im just wondering is it feasible?

I just pray it doesnt rain

Certainly possible - have you done this before? I see some late nights if you plan on pulling this off.

;) Do you have all of the parts? Do you know where all the parts go? ;)

If you're planning on doing engine internal work (especially involving piston rings), you don't want the maiden voyage to be a long highway trip though - doesn't let the engine break in properly.

If it gets new rings and/or a cylinder honing, it's going to need a good 500 to 1000 kilometers of break-in before it's ready for a highway trip.

I guess it depends if you have lots of spare time that you can dedicate to the rebuilding.

    Well after thinking it over,

due to me getting married in september I am not going to be able to put the kind of money into this bike that I wanted to to get it fixed up nice. So Im just going to do what I can or rather have to while its apart and put it back together running and looking halfway decent. Then i guess ill get married then go from there.

    Anyways.....

    Haha she'd love that :?

The best part about the whole thing is I told her I would sell the bike if she wanted but she said no because she knew I had loads of fun working on it and she didn't want to take that away from me. Of course I spend more time with her than it so I guess she doesnt see it as a threat. for now.
