In my searches, I came accross a beautiful picture of a 1982 650 Seca, which is the bike I'm working on restoring. There's a part on the picture that mine doesn't have, however...

On the lower-right engine case cover, this bike has fins:

Whereas my bike has no fins:

What can I do to have cool fins like that?

Those are crash guards. Nice looking ones.

Yup, case guards. The '83 Seca I got as parts with my '81 had 'em. Sadly they were overused in that case and now long gone.

They are OEM case guards and quite rare. Hope you can find a set, I really think they are some of the nicest guards a Seca could have.

They are very nice, quite a cut above the usual chrome tube.
I found an ad for these in my 1982 issue of Cycle World. Here's a camera copy. Perhaps this company supplied them to Yamaha.
    Good luck finding some today!

If you can get some frabricated successfully, I have a sneaking suspicion you'll have some buyers.

    I know I'd buy 'em.

I'd one of them! I guess those were not OEM. I remember seeing them on the wall of accessories when I bought my Seca new. I assumed they were Yamaha case guards. The company is still in business:
http://www.rackfactory.net/ I just might give them a call!
